2. What is the difference between the beaches?

All shores have its own particularity which makes it special. Excluding Uaymitun, the beaches have its own local plaza, market, church, downtown, several stores, and many other services that every population needs. What really distinguishes the beaches is the architecture style of the beachfront houses, the beautiful oceanview, the distribution of the downtown, and local atmosphere.

Yucatán is a State that is next to the Gulf of Mexico, this coast has the peculiarity to be a calm ocean with peaceful waves, not deep at all; in fact you will be able to walk 15 meters inside the ocean and still be stepping on the sand.

If you are looking forward to try the delicious local dishes of Yucatán you might want to know that each shore has its own local restaurants, market and stores but if your preference is something more contemporary Mérida is only 30 minutes away from Progreso and just an easy drive away.
